Testimonies

My name is Felicia.

For most of my teenage years and into young adulthood, I struggled with addiction and gave in to my sinful nature. I was reckless, selfish, angry, and controlling. Because of violence and addiction, I began to lose everything I cared about and loved. My children were taken from me, I was constantly dealing with legal troubles, and I faced one hardship after another, including homelessness and depression. In 2023, we made the decision to move from Arizona to San Antonio. At that point, I was still deeply addicted and struggling in every area of my life. Despite the move, I found myself in the same destructive situations I had been trying to escape.

On June 1, 2024, everything changed.

I woke up and could feel the Holy Spirit with me. In that moment, I knew I wasn’t alone and that I could be redeemed. People say that when you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up. For me, that Rock was Jesus. He restored me. I put the drugs down and never looked back. My cold heart began to feel joy and compassion again. I had walked past Door CFC almost every day and felt that God was leading me there. Finally, I decided to walk in. Of course, I didn’t come alone—I came with my boyfriend, our 2-year-old son, a stroller, and our dog. We definitely made a lasting first impression! We were immediately welcomed with warmth and love by the best church family we could have asked for. Suddenly, everything made sense. God had led us there. We had found the loving family we had been searching for.

My boyfriend became my husband. We were no longer homeless. We restored relationships with our children and our families. None of this happened because of our own strength—it happened because of Jesus. Today, we have the privilege of sharing our testimony with others and pointing people to Christ. We could never have done this on our own, but through God’s strength, all things are possible. All the glory and praise belong to God for our salvation. We are beyond grateful and blessed to have found our church and our family. God continues to help me every day. He has restored my heart and mind, filled me with peace and joy, and He can do the same for you.

God bless,

Felicia Jensen

Hello, my name is Alicia. At the age of 37 I found myself in the midst of doctors, counselors and psychiatrists. I was bound by depression and severe panic and anxiety attacks. I was heavily medicated and with each medication came side effects such as self mutilation, suicidal attempts and memory loss. With each side effect came a new medication and another side effect. I eventually lost control of my mind. I was hardly able to stand or even talk.

Then one day in June of 2007 someone from The Door Christian Fellowship knocked at my door during one of their church outreaches. They told me about Jesus Christ and prayed over me. These total strangers began taking me with them to church from that day forward.

Then in Jan. of 2008 something miraculous happened. God restored my mind! He delivered me from all panic, anxiety, depression and medication. I have no memory of the 7 months in between. All I know is my church family was diligently praying on my behalf and God heard them. Through the power of Jesus Christ my healer, my deliverer, I was set free. What was my side effect? Eternal life..salvation. Now imagine what he can do for you!

My name is Raul Apolinar. Although I never really went by that name, my grandma gave me the nickname “Bully” because I was always fighting. I carried that identity for 29 years—a young kid trying to find my true self.

I grew up in a family of seven. We were out late at night, usually up to no good. There was a lot of violence in our home, and drinking in the front yard was a normal part of life. Having older brothers, I wanted to be just like them. I got drunk for the first time when I was 11 years old. At 12, I started getting high, and at 14, I tried cocaine for the first time. It seemed as though my eyes had been opened to a whole new world.

I began running with a gang, and our house became the party house. As a teenager, we would hang out at bars and then rob them. From the age of 16 to 29, I lived a life of heavy drug and alcohol abuse. I would party for two or three days straight, wasting my life away.

Deep in my sin, I crashed my car at 90 miles per hour, hitting a guardrail at 4:00 in the morning with my 2-year-old son strapped into his car seat. Thank God neither of us had a scratch on us. Even after that miracle, I kept doing things my own way.

I was going nowhere in life, and I was tired of constantly making the same mistakes. In December 2004, I was pulled over for driving under the influence, arrested, and sentenced to three years of probation.

Around that time, my brother-in-law had a radical encounter with Jesus Christ and was completely transformed. He began telling me about Jesus. I didn’t know what to think, but I was exhausted with the way I was living and had reached the point where I wanted to give up.

Later, he invited me to a church service. That day, I gave my life to Jesus Christ and surrendered everything to Him. At the time, my girlfriend and I were living together but were not married, and our second son had just been born. After I gave my life to Christ, we got married.

Today, by the grace of God, we have been married for 21 years and have faithfully walked with the Lord together. Looking back, I know that God spared my life, rescued me from addiction, and gave me a new purpose. I am alive because of His mercy, and I have been born again through Jesus Christ.

God is so good. All glory belongs to Him.

Amen.
